The ideal graduate of the “Great Thinkers” program has been exposed to many different areas over time and has logged about 8-10 years of experience in at least one area of his or her choosing throughout the program, with rote work gradually falling off and the student opting increasingly to follow projects in these individually chosen area(s).
Having had sufficient time, exposure, interest, and guidance to cultivate the mechanics of a skill to near-mastery, the next phase in a proper education is to set those individually developed skills to an indvidually developed purpose. The Great Thinkers program provides the ability required to cultivate further personal development; the next phase of a student's education must develop senses of purpose, value, and aesthetics coupled with additional scholastic rigor and refinement with which to guide further development of the student both as a scholar within the student's areas of study and as a holistic individual.
The student's existing education has set before him the task of knowing. The next phase must set before him the interconnected tasks of choosing and doing. It is around these three goals - knowledge, choice, and action - that we have designed an educational program at the university level known as Project Polymath. Great Thinkers graduates will find themselves well equipped to enter any university, as they have had a great deal of exposure to their prospective majors, but those who wish to both broaden their knowledge further and translate that knowledge into purpose-driven action will be exceptional fits for a polymathic education. There are no limits!
